Icon of St. Orentius, Bishop
of Auch
Feast: May 1
Born at
Huesca in Spain, the blessed man Orentius sold all that he had and gave
it to the poor, and became a hermit in the valley of Lavedan. Later he
became the Bishop of Auch and was engaged in peacekeeping efforts (he
was sent as an envoy to the Roman general Aetius by the Ostrogoth
leader Theodoric). Holy Father Orentius, pray to God for us!
Icon
apparently by the hand of hieromonk Cassien, Greek Old Calendarist
Hermitage in Clara, France.
