Icon of St. Protasius, one of
the Protomartyrs of Milan
Feast: Oct. 14
Sts. Gervasius and Protasius,
the sons of the martyrs Vitalis and Valeria, are venerated as the
protomartyrs of Milan. St. Gervasius was beaten to death with a
lead-tipped whip, and St. Protasius was beheaded. Guided by a vision of
the martyrs, St. Ambrose of Milan unearthed their sacred relics and
they are venerated in the West upon June 19. Holy Martyr Protasius,
pray to God for us!
