Icons of St. Raphael, Bishop
of Brooklyn, Confessor
Feast: Feb. 27
Born in
the Levant, St. Raphael was the first Bishop consecrated in North
America. He selflessly tended a far-flung flock of diverse ethnical
backgrounds, exhibiting the love and care of Christ. He studied deeply
the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, determining that it represented a
dangerous Protestantism, against which he carefully protected the
Orthodox flock. Holy Father Raphael of Brooklyn, pray to God for us!
