Icon Medallion Fresco of St.
Richarius, Abbot, Hermit, Founder of Celles
Feast: Apr.
26
Also known
as St. Riquier, he was born near Amiens at Celles, France, and became a
Priest after saving the lives of two Irish missionaries from the pagan
inhabitants. He studied in England, returned to his native soil, preach
with great power, and founded the great abbey of Celles, becoming its
first Abbot. He resigned the abbacy in old age and lived as a hermit,
departing to the Lord in holiness of life. Holy Father Richarius, pray
to God for us!
