Depicted in
the bosom of St. Sigfried are the holy Priest, Deacon, & Subdeacon
who were his nephews and who suffered martyrdom together with him.
Sigfried was a Priest of York or Glastonbury who was consecrated a
missionary Bishop and sent to Norway at the request of King Olaf
Tryggvason. In 1008 St. Sigfried went on to Sweden, converting its
King, also named Olaf, and very successfully preached the Holy Gospel.
He also laboured in Denmark.
