Icon Fresco of St. Victor, the
Martyr of Marseilles
Feast: July 21
St. Victor was an officer who
during the persecution under Maximian in Marseilles encouraged the
Christians to bravery. When he denounced the worship of idols before
the prefects of his legion, he was dragged through the streets. Being
then cast into prison, he converted three soldiers, Sts. Longinus,
Alexander, and Felician, who were beheaded. Then he was crushed under a
millstone "like wheat chosen by God." Holy Martyr Victor, pray to God
for us!
