Icon of St. Winnoc,
Wonderworking Abbot of Wormhout in Brittany
Feast: November 6
St. Winnoc was probably a
Briton of royal blood. He was raised in Brittany and with three
companions became a monk at St. Peter's in Sithiu, under St. Bertin. He
and his friends were sent to found a monastery among the Morini at
Wormhout near Dunkirk, of which he was made Abbot. This monastery
became the centre of their missionary work, and in it St. Winnoc built
a church and a hospital. Having attained to the gift of miracles, and
widely famed for his sanctity, he reposed in the Lord on Nov. 6. Holy
Father Winnoc, pray to God for us!
Icon by the
hand of Protodeacon Pol, of the Moscow Patriarchal monastery in

Beneath the
Icon is shown the reliquary in which the holy Relics of St. Winnoc of
Wormhout rest.
