Icon of St. Wulfhilda, abbess

Back to WESTERN SAINTS ICONS

Icon of St. Wulfhilda of Barking, Abbess and Prophetess (+ 1000).

Feast: September 9

In this icon, there is in the lower part of the centre a row of four female saints. The first on the left, wearing a monastic habit, facing somewhat to the right, is St. Hildelitha, nun at Barking Monastery. To the right of St. Hildelitha is St. Ethelburga, in a brown monastic cloak, facing forward. To the right of St. Ethelburga is our holy Mother Wulfhilda, the abbess of Barking, in a dark blue monastic cloak, facing forward.

Icon by the hand of Mother Justina, Greek Old Calendarist convent of St. Elizabeth, Etna, California, with permission.

A note on the icon graphics we host on this site, including the above icon:
St. John Cassian Press does not "carry," i.e., reproduce, sell, or stock these icons. Those who wish to acquire icons should contact the icon's producer / distributor, if shown; otherwise, an icon maker or distributor should be contacted (a cursory list appears on the main Icons page).
